Corvettes de Olympia

Minutes of the April 12th, 2007 Meeting

Overview

Brian opened the meeting at 7:00 pm sharp. The meeting agenda was streamlined to keep the business portion of the meeting to a half hour and allow time for a presentation by David Snow from the LeMay Museum. Everyone did their part, and David gave what turned out to be an intriguing and animated introduction to the new museum complex that will begin construction in the near future.

Agenda

Introductions and Approval of Minutes
All-City Rally Preparation
Spring Meet and Greet
Treasurer and Committee Reports

Business Topics

A. Introductions and Approval of Minutes

The meeting began as usual with introductions, with one exception—Eric Ries and Miranda Simons announced their engagement. After a hearty round of congratulations, Miranda also announced that she has a new Honda. This began a flurry of other make and model announcements from others in the Club.

The minutes from the March 11, 2007 meeting were approved.

We also voted in Russ and Linda Wies as old, new members. Russ and Linda had been members in the past, and are back again with a new car. Welcome back to the Club!

Additionally, Dr. Jim Gould brought to our attention that Lynn Anderson, an old-time member, had passed away. Lynn and his wife were active members in the ‘70’s. Lynn was an avid autocrosser, but he sold his car and found new hobbies. Both Dr. Jim and Larry planned to attend the memorial, and Larry suggested the Sunshine Committee send a sympathy card.

B. All-City Rally Preparation

Meagan began by reporting on the outcome of the Pre-run—as she said, “Some finished, and some didn’t.” She said that she received a lot of good feedback and thanked everyone who worked and ran the rally. She spent all week running and fixing the rally based on the feedback she received. She gave a special thanks to Peggy for organizing the sponsorships and noted that we’re on schedule.

C. Spring Meet and Greet

This breakthrough event will be held on April 29th. Bob reported that it is our chance to meet five other car clubs in the area in an informal picnic setting. Flyers are available on the Club’s Web site. Bob noted that he could use help showing people where to park. There was a discussion about purchasing a large sheet cake. With no objections, the Club gave approval for a $40 cake.

D. Treasurer and Committee Reports

To stay on target for 7:30, we heard quick status report from the Treasurer and specially selected committees. Next month, we will return to our regular agenda.

Treasurer’s Financial Report

Denny reported that the Club has more money this month. Most of our income comes from dues. He also reported that he has not yet received dues from 20 members—three of whom paid after the meeting. According to the bylaws, there is a 60-day grace period for paying dues. As specified in the bylaws, there is a small penalty of $5.00 assessed for each month of unpaid dues. This was the last meeting to pay dues without a penalty!

E-mail and Home Address
Art passed around a clipboard with the membership list asking everyone to verify their e-mail and home addresses. If you didn’t have a chance to attend the meeting, please let Art know if either your e-mail or home address has changed.

Lion’s Club Breakfast
Nick Murphy expressed his appreciation for the Club’s support at the Lion’s Club breakfast. He also announced the winners of the Lion’s Club Car Show—Tim and Virginia Nelson. The Nelson’s and their yellow, flamed Corvette received a very nice plaque, and Virginia could not stop smiling.

Nick Strizic broke the Ames’ winning streak and will bring the May door prize.

Three Announcements

Art asked for a show of hand for those interested in a Tech Session at Griot's Garage in Fife. He will make arrangements
